美国5月CPI年率数据不及预期，美联储年内降息预期得到进一步的消化，消息公布后，美元指数出现短线下挫随后反弹，现货黄金也在短线上涨后出现回落。目前市场焦点在于美联储降息的预期。
周三公布的美国CPI数据不及预期，具体数据显示，美国5月未季调CPI年率仅为1.8%，低于预期的1.9%和前值2%，因季调后CPI月率为0.1%，远低于前值0.3%；5月未季调核心CPI年率也意外不及预期，仅为2%，低于预期的2.1%，因5月未季调核心CPI月和前值持平，未达到预期的0.2%。
分析师认为CPI数据之所以会出现回落主要是因为能源价格正常化的结果，近几个月能源一直是CPI数据重要的驱动因素之一，随着近期油价持续走低，一定程度上对美国的通胀造成了部分负面影响。
早在6月4日美联储官员布拉德便表示，通胀低于目标水平以及低失业率是美联储应该降息的理由，埃文斯也表示低通胀将给予美联储在需要时降息的空间。同时此前鲍威尔也表示将对降息持开放态度。因此随着近期美国经济数据不佳叠加通胀疲软加剧，市场对于美联储降息的预期正在进一步升温。
同时美联储的数据也下调了美国的通胀预期。纽约联储最新调查显示，美国1年期、3年期通胀预期中值跌至2017年5月以来最低水平。美国1年期通胀预期跌至2.5%，较上月降低0.1个百分点；3年期通胀预期跌至2.6%，较上月降低0.1个百分点。
因美墨贸易紧张局势，这使得市场担忧美国经济或受到负面影响，因此使得美元持续走低。尽管上周末美墨达成了一致，这使得美元一度接近97关口，但是美国总统特朗普10日表示，美国和墨西哥就边境非法移民问题达成的协议当中，有尚未公开的条款仍待墨立法机构批准。若条款未获通过，美国将恢复对墨输美商品加征关税。这一威胁距离特朗普宣布与墨方达成协议、美方暂停对墨方商品加征关税仅3天。这令市场担忧情绪再起，因美墨贸易紧张局势或使得美国经济放缓，进一步损害通胀预期。
其次是特朗普对于美联储的干预。美国总统特朗普周二发布推文称，美联储利率太高了，美国的通货膨胀非常低，这是一件美好的事情。分析人士认为尽管美联储一直顶着特朗普的压力按兵不动。但是在当前美国经济疲软的情况下，美联储所受到的政治和市场压力越来越大，这可能会迫使美联储做出让步。因此如果近期特朗普持续对美联储施压，可能会进一步施压美元，提振金价。
