周四(1月14日)据外媒援引知情人士消息报道称，中国官员及央行顾问透露，中国政府或有意于让人民币“缓步贬值”以刺激过国内经济增长，且中国央行近期的举动或有意让投资者难以看清其对人民币的意图。
据《华尔街日报》当天报道，中国当局此举旨在允许人民币今年温和贬值，同时鼓励汇率双向波动。
《华尔街日报》指出，中国官员和央行顾问在接受采访时透露，中国政府希望人民币逐步贬值以刺激国内放缓的经济增长。
不过，在《华尔街日报》看来，央行正在进行着一个危险的举动，因为交易员可能抓住机会先下手为强，大举做空人民币。
这其中，以香港离岸人民币市场发出的信号颇为敏感，离岸人民币汇率与中国大陆在岸人民币汇率价差上周扩大至纪录高位，因为离岸交易员押注人民币两次突然贬值后中国还需要人民币进一步走软。
不过，本周一，疑似央行插手对人民币空头进行了碾压，将离在岸人民币汇率价差从最高的2000点缩减至100点以下，并一度出现价差倒挂。
而这两日的人民币会走势看，整个人民币市场看起来逐步走向中国央行所期望的“缓步贬值”局面，市场的窄幅波动也反映出这一点。
周五离岸人民币对美元汇率持稳于6.61附近，当天人民币中间价报于6.5637，较昨日中间价6.5616下调21个点，为连续第七个交易日将中间价维持在6.56水平附近。
