3月17日 – 希腊周二让其主要债权人深感挫败，因该国在一次预定电话会议上拒绝向欧元区伙伴国提供有关改革进展的最新消息，坚持这样的讨论应该提到周四的欧盟峰会上。
欧元区国家对于希腊新政府的行事方式越来越厌烦，一位区内官员对此表示：“今天下午的电话会议对许多人来说，可能就类似于(压垮对希腊信心的)最后一根稻草。”
欧元区成员国副财长于1530GMT召开电话会议，以了解希腊“最新的进展情况”。目前希腊政府的资金即将告罄，也快要没有时间来协商并推行改革举措，而惟有改革才能让这个国家获得贷款，避免陷入违约。
但三位了解此次电话会议情况的消息人士表示，希腊一位官员非但没有提供最新情况，反而表示这些问题将会由总理齐普拉斯在布鲁塞尔的欧盟领导人会议上讨论。届时齐普拉斯将会晤德国总理梅克尔、法国总统奥朗德以及多位欧盟高层官员。
两位消息人士称，在希腊拒绝提供情况后，参加电话会议的一位官员表示债权人正在“白费功夫”，暗示会谈毫无进展。
欧洲官员表示，并不了解希腊将此议题移送至峰会目的何在，因希腊问题并未排入峰会正式议程，仅能在峰会的周边会议讨论，且讨论内容也只涉及广泛的政治条款。
他们表示，欧盟领袖不会给予齐普拉斯比欧元集团所提供更多的援助，因为对雅典任何进一步的金援，皆取决于希腊必须履行的改革，尽管希腊方面百般不愿。
熟知此次电话会议的三位消息人士证实了相关内容，以及欧元区部长对希腊政府态度的不满情绪；希腊方面不愿将前政府以改革换取将近2,400亿欧元贷款的承诺付诸实践。
齐普拉斯政府以拒绝整顿预算与驳回部分改革为口号，赢得1月25日大选的胜选。欧元区官员认为，雅典方面做出了不切实际的承诺，因而无法给予金援。
尽管希腊上周稍早同意与债权人重启会谈，讨论获得欧元区进一步放贷而必须履行的改革项目，但此后除同意配合技术团队蒐集相关数据外，并未有任何进展。
目前时间已愈见紧迫，因为希腊的资金可能在月底耗尽，届时或将再度债务违约，导致该国退出欧元区。
