在Metal Focus的报告中，研究人员们称，在去年供应增加后，受益于一些新项目开始生产，他们预计黄金和白银今年的产量会继续增加。
中国是全球最大的黄金生产国，也是去年黄金供应增加中的主力。全球黄金产量较2012年上涨4%至2982吨。白银产量则从前一年的792.3吨增长3.4%至819.6吨。这是白银供应连续11年增长，主要源于秘鲁、墨西哥和中国产量的增加。 尽管对今年的产量乐观，但报告称，“从明年开始，黄金生产行业将进入到一个长期的衰退阶段。”
报告称，在经历了糟糕的2013年之后，2014年前4个月中，投资者们对黄金和白银的态度有所转变。他们认为市场从单方面的出售转向了更为平衡的角度。报告还表明：“2014年将是黄金和白银全面稳固的一年，我们认为今年的价格高位已经过去，而下行方面，从目前价格进一步下跌是有可能的。”
