2014年1月31日是柏南克担任美国联准会(FED)主席的最后一个金融市场交易日。
美国前总统小布什(George W. Bush)是在2006年2月1日任命柏南克担任FED主席。嘉实XQ全球赢家系统的报价显示黄金现货价当天是以569.80美元/盎司作收。以2014年1月31日收盘(1,242.79美元)来计算,这段期间黄金现货价总计大涨了118%。
MarketWatch部落格去年2月报导,Bespoke投资集团统计显示,柏南克之前的三位FED主席葛林斯班(Alan Greenspan)、伏克尔(Paul Volcker)、米勒(G. William Miller)任期内金价涨幅分别为14.5%、65.0%、47.5%。黄金长期投资者应该向柏南克致上最高敬意、感谢他在任内执行史无前例的量化宽松货币政策(QE)。
2014年1月29日当天FED资产规模报4.14兆美元、创历史新高,较2013年1月2日当天的2.956兆美元增加40.1%(1.184兆美 元)。彭博社报导,芝加哥大学布斯商学院经济学家Jing Cynthia Wu、圣地亚哥加州大学经济学家Fan Dora Xia的研究显示,在柏南克的领导下,FED QE实际上已经让基准利率降至负1.98%。
彭博社统计显示,中国2013年黄金净进口数量年增33%至1,108.8公吨、创历史新高。中国似乎开始意识到,卖东西给美国人所赚来的外汇如果通通再拿去借给美国(买美国公债)并不是一件划算的交易,因为FED资产规模还在持续创历史新高。
Thomson Reuters报导,中国2013年12月黄金进口数量月增24%至94.847公吨。澳盛银行(ANZ)预估2014年中国自香港进口黄金数量达到900公吨、创史上次高水平。
