共和党无心削减政府赤字 不担心美国政府违约

共和党籍前国会议员Ron Paul在接受CNBC电视台专访时指出，共和党跟民主党一样、都不是真心想削减美国政府赤字。他说，美国人该担心的不是政府机构关门、而是整个政治体制的崩溃。Paul认为政党政治不是关键，重点在于美国人认为政府该扮演何种角色。他语重心长地指出，如果美国人认为政府可以用赤字来照顾人民一辈子、那就大错特错了。
谈到「病患保护与平价医疗法(Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act)；简称「奥巴马健保案(Obamacare)」，Paul指出，为何美国人不能选择自己照顾自己、为何奥巴马强迫每个人都得参加保险？力主「重回金本位(gold standard)」的Paul说，他不知道为何黄金价格在政府机构关门的第一天出现大跌，但长期来看美国联准会(FED)只能继续印钱来支应政府赤字、金价长线依旧看涨。他并且说，不用担心美国政府会光明正大地让债务违约，因为它可以轻松地拿购买力缩水的美元还债即可。

彭博社报导，根据Pew研究中心在2012年11月28日至12月5日针对2,511名美国成年人所做的电话访问，高达55%的受访者表示他们是应得权益计划(包括社会安全、联邦医疗保险、医疗补助、食品券、失业保险等六大项)的受惠者。Pew执行副总Paul Taylor指出，应得权益受惠者可说是不分党派或意识形态。
美国国会预算办公室(CBO)日前发表报告指出，美国联邦健保支出预估将在2030-2035年间跃居政府最大支出项目。
