美元的漲勢令市場參與者都感到意外。美元指數目前僅比兩年半高點低0.5%。沒有單一理由可解釋美元的強勢，多種因素在共同起作用。
儘管美國眾議院啟動了對美國總統特朗普的彈劾，但美元作為主要的避險貨幣仍然受到青睞。但如果美元在當前水準繼續走高，特朗普可能敦促美國財政部對美元進行干預。
美國眾議院民主黨人啟動彈劾總統調查不僅在美國政界掀起巨大風暴，也在經濟領域內令投資者感到恐慌。但是這種恐慌在進入到本周後半段反而成了市場風險情緒的推動力。
特朗普26日發推警告稱，如果我被彈劾，股市將會崩盤。特朗普在推特上稱，“如果他們真的這麼做了，市場就會崩盤。你們認為我們擁有歷史上最好的股市和經濟是因為運氣好嗎？它不是！”
當日，該臨時預算案以82票贊成、15票反對的結果表決通過。該臨時預算案將保證政府正常運轉至今年11月21日，否則政府將在9月30日2019財年結束時面臨“關門”。
在今年關於政府預算的討論中，美國總統特朗普修建邊境牆的費用再次成為兩黨議員爭執的焦點。民主黨議員堅決反對批准特朗普要求的50億美元建牆費用。當日，參議院撥款委員會民主黨議員試圖通過表決修正案阻止該筆費用，但表決未能通過。接下來，兩黨議員將繼續就該事宜進行協商。
五英國央行政策制定者桑德斯發表了意外鴿派的言論。以前一直表現鷹派的他，如今釋放鴿派言論可能意味著英國央行內部對於硬脫歐的憂慮揮之不去，而且如果英國央行接下來因為硬脫歐而放寬政策的話，這對金價而言也是利好消息。
