8月8日，現貨黃金從一周的高位回落，因金價在大幅上漲，需要進行一定的技術性回落調整。但全球貿易局勢的不確定以及全球央行的降息趨勢對金價構成了較大的支撐。

美國至8月3日當周初請失業金人數意外錄得下滑，暗示儘管經濟增速放緩，勞動力市場維持強勁。接下來數周內，貿易問題將受到關注，因其導致經濟前景黯淡，金融市場動盪，且正在蔓延到勞動力市場。
全球央行降息潮始終支撐金價。因為經濟前景存在風險，全球央行持續寬鬆，這也助漲黃金的避險買盤。
菲律賓央行週四宣佈，將基準利率從4.5%下調25個基點至4.25%，符合市場的基本預期。菲律賓央行今年5月曾降息25個基點，是6年多來首次降息。
今年5月8日，新西蘭聯儲宣佈降息25個基點，打響了發達國家降息的第一槍。7月份俄羅斯央行和澳洲聯儲也已經降息。一周前美聯儲宣佈降息25個基點之後，巴西立即宣佈降息50個基點；8月7日，泰國、印度、新西蘭聯儲同時宣佈降息，降息幅度均超出市場預期。
美聯儲降息預期依然高漲。芝加哥聯儲主席埃文斯週三表示，上周美聯儲降息以來的事態發展可能會給經濟帶來阻力，為政策的進一步寬鬆提供了理由。
埃文斯稱，風險管理要發揮作用，你可以像我一樣認為，通貨膨脹本身就需要更多的寬鬆，要多過我們上次會議時剛剛採取的措施，你可能會認為，事態可能產生了更多逆風，那麼做採取更多行動會是合理的。
分析師認為，埃文斯的這一表態顯示，美聯儲9月的下一次會議上至少降息25個基點並在可能下調更多的舉動獲得了一些支持。
分析師表示，“世界各國央行的舉措非常重要，而我們認為貨幣市場可能會出現競爭性貶值，而競爭性貶值支持金價。”
路透技術分析師王濤表示，在金價突破1497美元之後，現貨黃金可能進一步上漲至1,524美元。
分析師表示，未來兩年金價可能會攀升至2000美元，因為各國央行近期的鴿派傾向，以及負收益率資產的增加提供了一個良好的背景，可能支撐金價的上漲。此前，黃金在2011年的現貨市場創下了創紀錄的1921.17美元。
