隨著6月議會投票通過的可能性微乎其微疊加特雷莎·梅面臨著下臺的風險，英國脫歐前景的不確定性也在進一步加大。
分析人士指出，一旦特雷莎·梅下臺，其繼任者很大可能是前外交大臣詹森。作為強硬脫歐派，詹森將使得英國無協議脫歐的可能性進一步上升，這將導致英鎊出現進一步的回落。
此外執政的保守黨在下周不得不參加的歐盟選舉中可能遭遇本黨支持者的倒戈而落敗，市場預估英國獨立黨(UKIP)領袖法拉奇的脫歐黨派料將贏得34%的選票，比保守黨和工黨兩者之合還多。強硬脫歐立場持有者英國獨立黨料成為大贏家，由此顯示出的民心向背對於英鎊的走勢前景也如同一場災難。
分析人士表示，隨著跨黨派談判破裂，預計工黨將會就二次公投做進一步的準備。在英國議會多數成員反對硬脫歐的情況下，工黨可能會逆轉當前無協議脫歐風險激增的狀況，這可能會使得英鎊獲得部分反彈的空間。
本周以來義大利預算風波再起，義大利馬泰奧·薩爾維尼表示，他的國家應該準備好打破歐盟3% GDP的赤字上限並在必要時將債務推至GDP的140%以降低失業率之後，這使得歐元承壓。同時新興市場貨幣遭遇自去年夏天土耳其里拉危機以來最糟糕的一周，由於貿易緊張局勢加劇。
而隨著日內英國無協議脫歐風險激增，促使資金進一步流向美元，因而推動英鎊持續走低。因此近期美國數據如果進一步向好，可能會使得英鎊進一步承壓。
