9月14日，現貨黃金明顯走強，在本周美聯儲政策會議結束後，市場期待美聯儲給出進一步寬鬆信號，同時美聯儲可能繼續增購長債。不過疫苗試驗恢復進行也提振了全球股市，限制了一定的避險情緒。
阿斯利康(AstraZeneca)恢復人體試驗後對新冠疫苗的希望重燃，亞洲股市收高，歐洲股市走強，美國股指期貨也反彈。公司上週末表示，在獲得安全監管機構准許後，該公司已恢復其新冠疫苗的英國臨床試驗。
不過全球新冠疫情形勢依然不樂觀。印度雖然實施了四個月的封鎖措施，但新冠病例數位居全球第二。此外，新冠病例在那些似乎已成功控制疫情的亞洲國家再度上升，如印尼首都雅加達再度實施封鎖。
英國下議院週一將就內部市場法案(Internal MarketBill)進行辯論，並決定是否將該法案推進至下個階段。歐盟已經要求詹森在9月底前放棄該法案。
英國前首相梅傑(保守黨)與布萊爾(工黨)上周日發表聯名信，稱英國必須放棄通過立法破壞脫歐協議這個“令人震驚”的計畫，此舉違反國際法。前英國首相特雷莎·梅(保守黨)也質疑，全球合作夥伴未來還能否信任英國。
本周美聯儲將公佈自主席鮑威爾宣佈變更政策框架以來的首次利率決議。與過去相比，美聯儲在緊縮政策方面不會再像以前那樣急迫，因其更加側重提振就業市場。這項政策變化令美債收益率曲線變得陡峭，抬高了長期借款成本。
新冠病毒對經濟帶來衝擊的疑慮迫使美聯儲將利率調降至近零水準，並推出多項貸款計畫以援助企業及家庭。美聯儲在疫情期間購買了逾1.5萬億美元的短期公債，已壓低短期借款成本。外界預計，美聯儲可能不得不增加購買長期債券以壓低收益率。
美聯儲主席鮑威爾本月稍早表示，央行將持續保持貨幣政策寬鬆的同時，國會議議員也需要提出提振復蘇措施加以輔助，因此對於部分投資人而言，政府遲遲未能通過下一輪的刺激計畫，是一個越來越令人擔憂的情勢發展。
分析師表示：“尤其在沒有財政政策計畫的情況下，市場希望美聯儲採取更多舉措。尚不清楚他們是否可以進一步行動，也不知道他們願意做多少努力，至少目前來看是這樣。”
