6月23日，現貨黃金維持上漲趨勢，由於美聯儲對經濟前景的悲觀被市場普遍認可，美國可能會繼續推出新的經濟刺激政策，也讓美元指數連續回落。加上最新新增病例增加，人們對經濟活動放緩的擔憂持續增加。
歐洲部分國家4月底就開始重新開放。上周歐盟各國領導人更是同意採取緊急行動，將經濟從二戰以來最嚴重的衰退中拉出來。歐元區的低迷狀況在6月份大幅緩解，經濟萎縮接近底部。一系列的利好消息提振了歐元，也抑制了投資者買入黃金的體現衝動。
大部分分析師預計，美聯儲在新冠大流行期間的首份經濟展望是恰當的，表明需要持續數年的非常規政策，來支持緩慢而漫長的經濟復蘇。今年上半年的產出損失預計無法在明年年底前得到彌補。
分析師：“我認為美聯儲正在試圖傳達實際的評估。我們有2010萬人失業，未來幾個月這些人當中有不少可能會復工。因此，如果這種情況沒有發生，這會是個災難。因為這意謂著所有的刺激舉措都沒有奏效。“
分析師表示：“在其他條件相同的情況下，新冠疫苗較早面世可能帶來更大的經濟影響，沒有疫苗導致的經濟長期疲弱將使出現嚴重創傷的可能性加大，這種創傷包括永久性裁員和企業倒閉，即使疫苗上市也無法扭轉。”
今年春天，美國各州和城市出臺限制措施，要求人們在家辦公並進行社交疏離，以減緩病毒傳播，這讓消費者無法進店購物，並引發裁員潮。自那以來，部分地方新增病例數和病亡人數企穩或下降。
但本周市場劇烈波動，投資者在全球許多地區經濟重啟的希望與美國感染人數增加的跡象之間左右為難。近期包括亞利桑那州和佛羅里達州在內的一些州新增病例數重新攀升，這引發了人們對經濟活動再次放緩的擔憂，儘管美國部分大城市封鎖舉措繼續鬆綁。
投資者正在關注新增病例增長到何種程度會導致封鎖措施重新被收緊，儲蓄率存在繼續走高的風險。若佔據美國經濟比重逾2/3的消費無法得到根本改善，美國經濟就談不上真正的復蘇，風險情緒就不可能徹底好轉，美元易跌難漲。
