國際貨幣基金組織(IMF)發言人週四表示，迅速蔓延的全球公共衛生事件將對經濟增長造成影響，IMF可能因此下調其增長預估。
美國銀行週四調降全球經濟成長預估，至2009年全球金融危機高峰期以來的最低水準，因擔憂新冠病毒疫情造成的衝擊。
他們還指出，全球供應鏈可能會受損。旅遊業疲弱將是亞洲面臨的另一個不利因素。很多國家可能會出現與義大利類似的規模有限的疫情，這會導致更多的隔離並打擊信心。
對全球公共衛生形勢的擔憂加劇，拖累全球金融市場陷入混亂。本周最重大的變化就是美元漲勢止步，因市場大幅重估美聯儲降息的可能性。
如果這種新型冠狀病毒繼續蔓延，情況可能會變得更糟，部分原因是全球需求下降導致的油價下跌，可能會造成美國商品和服務價格下降。
分析師說：“我們不需要等待經濟資料出爐來判斷經濟受到的衝擊有多嚴重。從航空公司和酒店銷售減半就已經可見一斑。可以說，病毒的影響顯然將遠大於貿易紛爭。因此美聯儲下月沒有理由採取觀望態度。”
