5月10日晚。美國CPI數據不及預期，美元指數短線下挫，刷新一周新低，而現貨黃金短暫上漲後回落。同時因為加拿大4月失業率好於預期，美元兌加元短線急跌。
美國勞工部公佈的數據顯示，美國4月未季調CPI年率僅為2%，不及預期的2.1%，但好於前值的1.9%；而4月未季調核心CPI年率為2.1%，與預期相符，高於前值的2%。
本周美國經濟數據整體表現不佳，此次CPI年率再度不及預期，可能會進一步提升市場降息的預期，並施壓美元提振金價。
美國4月份消費者物價水準上升，但潛在通脹依然溫和，這意味著美聯儲可能會暫時地繼續維持政策利率不變。勞工部表示，受汽油、租金和醫療成本上漲的推動，上個月CPI環比增0.3%。剔除食品和能源的CPI微增0.1%，因服裝價格連續第二個月出現下跌。核心CPI已經連續3個月保持同樣的微幅增長。
數據公佈後，美聯儲貨幣基金利率顯示2019年降息概率小幅上揚。美聯儲主席鮑威爾在昨日的談話中又一次強調，目前頹靡的通脹是由暫時因素造成的，美聯儲將繼續堅持耐心立場。
回顧昨日，美國4月PPI年率及4月核心年率均差於預期。4月份美國生產者物價指數溫和上漲，但潛在通脹壓力似乎正在提升；儘管經濟強勁，勞動力市場趨緊，但物價壓力依然溫和，美聯儲青睞的通脹指標PCE在截至3月的一年中上漲1.6%，是14個月來最低增幅。
黃金方面，儘管避險情緒升溫有助於金價從中獲得支撐，但金價並沒有持續走高的趨勢，因投資者並沒有急於需求避險或陷入恐慌。從當前走勢看，技術阻力位在1290美元至1292美元之間，此前曾一度觸及這個點位，但是目前承壓於這一壓力區間下方做盤整。
與此同時，加拿大方面4月失業率降至5.7%，好於預期及前值的5.8%；該國4月就業人數變動新增10.65萬人，前值下滑0.64萬人，這也是加拿大錄得紀錄最高月度就業增長。
投資者擔心美國總統特朗普採取的激進貿易手段可能反過來傷及美國自身經濟，並迫使美聯儲不得不採取措施為之善後，因此導致美元承壓，從而利好非美貨幣集體走強。而投資者眼下也仍在不安地等待著貿易局勢的進一步進展。
