美國總統特朗普週二(3月13日)將國務卿蒂勒森(Rex Tillerson)解職，雙方在朝鮮、俄羅斯和伊朗等政策問題上存在公開分歧。中央情報局(CIA)局長蓬佩奧(Mike Pompeo)將接任其職務。
分析師稱，在蒂勒森被開、蓬佩奧接任的意外消息傳出後，避險情緒重現。
蓬佩奧是特朗普貿易政策的支持者，有望幫助他推進對美國貿易夥伴國的政策，所有這些不確定性和避險情緒使得黃金再度成為避險選項。
分析師稱：“美國日益嚴重的保護主義傾向可能已經給股市拉響警報，在當前愈發充滿不確定性的大環境中，黃金將繼續成為對沖風險的理想港灣。”
與此同時，週二公佈的數據顯示，美國2月份汽油和房租價格下降，暗示美國通脹上行依然維持漸漸式步伐。
分析師在研報中寫道：“0.2%的美國通脹月率依然不足以支撐美聯儲年內加速升息的市場預期。”
