目前已经有多家银行纷纷推出了纸黄金的双向交易业务，使纸黄金交易突破单向交易的牢笼，趋向灵活的交易方式，提高了投资者的纸黄金交易积极性，让投资者无论在纸黄金行情的涨跌形势下，都可以获得收益，增大了盈利的概率。
以中国工商银行为例，该行已于2010年年初推出双向黄金宝业务，投资者可以更加自由地选择做多或是做空，无论市场涨跌，都有可能获得投资收益。施丰告诉记者，双向黄金宝引入保证金机制，在投资者开仓时，银行按照交易保证金与开仓名义金额115∶100的比率冻结相应金额的保证金。假设某客户开通该业务后即进行一笔开仓的即时交易，卖出20手美元金纸黄金的合约（即2盎司美元纸黄金），成交汇率为1850美元/盎司，因此客户为该笔合约被冻结的保证金为4255美元（即2×1850×115%）。若客户在黄金回落至1520美元/盎司时进行获利了结，则该客户通过做空操作获取收益60美元（即2×30）。
纸黄金做空方法在于能否较好地控制风险，当维持保证金充足率降至100%以下时，银行将有权予以强制平仓，直至保证金充足率上升至100%，因此，投资者在交易时应当注意保证金充足率，做好风险控制。
