一、面额：国家发行的现代金银币均为法定货币，但其面额只是法定货币象征性的符号，并不是与黄金或者白银等值的面值，面值和实际价格脱钩。现代金银币由于所用金银料随国际价格而浮动，因此，金银币的价格是黄金白银的国际浮动价加上加工费和利润升水计算。
二、升水：金银币在销售时，其本金本银部分是按照金价为准确定的，而加工费和利润部分成为升水，包括所有铸造成本、储运成本、宣传推广费用、对冲成本、营运成本和适当利润。
三、成色：金无足赤，黄金没有绝对的足金，总有些其他成分。用成色表示黄金的纯度，一为百分比，一为K标法。金银币一般用百分比。
四、发行量：各种纪念性金银币，无论是套是枚，都有固定的发行数量，公布的发行数量是限定的，不能随意变更。而非纪念性金银币发行量不限，一般是以年终统计的销售量为发行量并予以公布。
五、盎司为国际通用的金银币重量名称，一盎司为31.1035克。
