现货黄金又叫伦敦金，因最早起源于伦敦而得名。伦敦金通常被称为欧式黄金交易。以伦敦黄金交易市场和苏黎世黄金市场为代表。投资者的买卖交易记录只在个人 预先开立的”黄金存折账户”上体现，而不必进行实物金的提取，这样就省去了黄金的运输、保管、检验、鉴定等步骤，其买入价与卖出价之间的差额要小于实金买 卖的差价。这类黄金交易没有一个固定的场所。在伦敦黄金市场整个市场是由各大金商、下属公司间的相互联系组成，通过金商与客户之间的电话、电传等进行交易；在苏黎世黄金市场，则由三大银行为客户代为买卖并负责结账清算。伦敦的五大金商（罗富齐、金宝利、万达基、万加达、美思太平洋）和苏黎士的三大银行 （瑞士银行、瑞士信贷银行和瑞士联合银行）等都在世界上享有良好的声誉，交易者的信心也就建立于此。
