非农报告中市场最为关注的非农就业新增人口表现大幅不及预期。另外劳动参与率下滑，而其它分项则表现良好。具体数据显示，美国8月非农就业人口+17.3万，预期+21.7万，前值从+21.5万修正为+24.5万。华尔街日报》资深联储报道记者认为，因为失业率超预期下降，但新增就业人数增长放缓，8月美国非农就业报告带来喜忧参半的结果，它给本月美联储会议决策提出挑战，让联储更难以抉择。里奇蒙德联储主席莱克周五(9月4日)表示，美联储本月上调短期利率的可能性很大，不过他还表示，他尚未决定是否支持美联储近10年来首次加息。
