5日公布的美国非农就业数据好于预期，不过一些分析师表示，美国就业数据没有强到足以令美联储考虑结束宽松货币政策。而此前一天，欧洲央行也放言力挺宽松。在4日结束的议息会议上，欧洲央行总裁德拉吉表示，该行已经准备好实施购债计划，这会拉低负债沉重国家的借贷成本。德拉吉表示，该行有“完全有效的支持机制”来实施这一计划，这令投资者松了一口气。而澳大利亚央行2日召开货币政策例会，决定把基准利率下调25个基点至3.25%。
