1、黄金ETF的可疑库存量。
研究机构Behind the Number的分析师Will Becker认为对实物市场的怀疑使他对黄金ETF有所疑问。他认为黄金ETF是不是真的能在灾难中保护投资者的黄金持有是很大的疑问。
Becker指出，能从SPDR黄金基金中赎回股份的只有一些被授权的参与者，也就是汇丰这样的大银行。该基金中的黄金能被6个分支保管人获取，而这些银行则可以挑选别的代表来持有黄金，投资者是不可能知道黄金真的在哪里的。
SPDR黄金基金的金条中只有一部分是被放在保管人那里的，而托管人是不能去查看这些黄金或者任何被分支保管人所持有的记录的，因此，对SPDR黄金基金所有的黄金进行全面审计是不可能的。
此外，2014年以来金价已经上涨了约10%，而SPDR黄金基金的持有量则仅增加了1%，Becker担心这当中的差距显示出大银行所授权的参与者们宁可出售实物黄金而非买入黄金ETF。
2、黄金期货中的奇怪交易。
对于黄金的阴谋论中，很多都和各发达国家的央行有关，对于这些央行因为黄金威胁其法定货币，而希望抑制金价的传言一直没有停过。
美国前助理财政部长、经济学家Paul Craig Roberts认为自己就是那么做了。在其个人网站上上个月的一篇文章中，Roberts指出在12月和1月中大量的期货合约中的黄金在几分钟内被投入市场，只有想要将金价压低的卖家会这么做。
