资金管理的首要目的正是在于“保命”，即保住投资者在黄金市场的“参赛权”。
资金管理第二个目的在于防止下单操作的时候，套住却没钱在低位补仓，如果是期货，连续做错赔钱，例如说一次赔个五十点，连赔五次就腰斩了，而黄金连续做错是很有可能发生的，每个黄金投资人都一定碰过。
资金管理的第三个目的在于减低压力，操作只要不是用平常心操作就一定会常常做出卖在地板和买在天花板的蠢事，该止损会舍不得止损，越舍不得止损就越容易一次爆仓，而减低持仓比例自然减低压力。
所以，资金管理的重要性不言而喻，大概和止损、顺势操作的等级差不多，这是每个投资人都应该在进场之前就先规划好的动作。虽然会比全押赚得少，但是“做投资不是在比顺风顺水的时候谁赚比较多，而是在比不顺的时候谁亏比较少”。这才是投资的正确态度。因为，只有长期生存下来，才有机会持续的获利。
