现货黄金是一种全球性的贵金属现货投资品种，按内盘和外盘的划分意义上说，现货黄金TD就是中国境内的现货黄金交易品种，而外盘就是指境外的现货黄金投资品种，例如伦敦金，选择外盘现货黄金的话，就要找经营国际现货黄金品种的贵金属投资机构，如港台地区的当地贵金属投资业务公司，或欧美地区国家的贵金属平台。
所以，现货黄金TD（又名黄金T+D）含有国际现货黄金的所有交易特性，资金投入为杠杆保证金作为抵押风险的凭证，而不需要按贵金属现货价格进行交易额的全部支付，所以能达到以小博大的效果。大田环球贵金属平台是属于外盘，因此包含国际现货黄金品种，投资者拥有1盎司的黄金，就能享受100盎司的黄金交易权，其次国内的现货黄金TD价格也是跟随国际现货黄金行情而变动。

现货黄金TD与现货黄金相比的不足之二，现货黄金TD的交易时间并不连续，按一天的北京时间分早上、下午、和夜盘，每个开收盘时段之间都隔着1~2个小时或更久，客户很容易在现货黄金TD的某个时段开盘以后，就遭遇行情断层现象，也就是所谓的跳空。现货黄金交易时间是连续的，这点在冬令时中得以证实，夏令时的非交易时间（凌晨3~4点）相隔仅有1小时，所以能够及时让投资者抓住有利入市时机之余，也容易规避跳空行情。
