2013年，现货黄金年末交易量大幅下滑，而股市则屡创新高，去年投资者将投入贵金属等商品的资金重新分配至股市，但如果股市出现下行调整，或会令资金重返贵金属市场。
接近纽约期金收市阶段，道琼斯工业平均指数下跌约130点，标普500指数下跌约15点。因此，即使美元上升，黄金也没有下跌，反而反弹上升。沽空回补和指数再平衡有助于黄金上升，而止损买盘则进一步扩大升幅，使黄金在连跌两日后反弹回升。
美股周四在2014年首个交易日下挫，因投资人在标普500指数去年创下1997年来最佳年度表现后锁定获利。
各种有利消息面和多头发力情况下现货黄金展现出筑底反弹的迹象，但由于美国经济数据持续表现强劲，关于美联储政策的忧虑仍未缓解。下周即将公布美国非农就业数据，或给黄金反弹走势给进一步指引。
