从前有位专门寻宝的古董收藏家，他在一次事故意外中不幸离世。当他死后灵魂准备进入天堂时，天堂的看门人在门口拦著他，并告诉了他一个不幸的消息：“你确实有资格进入天堂，但可惜我们分配给古董收藏家的天堂居住名额已经满了，我们实在无法安排你进来。”
古董收藏家听完想了一会，就对看门人说：“那我们不能进去跟那些天堂里的古董收藏家说一句话？”看门人想著也没什么，就同意了他的要求。
于是，这位来到天堂里古董收藏家们的聚集地，大喊了一句：“我在地狱发现一件稀世珍宝了！据说价值连城！”话音刚落，天堂里的古董收藏家们都像发疯一样涌向了地狱。看门人也十分惊讶，就问他：“现在天堂多了这么多空缺，你是不是准备进来居住？”
但这位古董收藏家反而迟疑了：“不，我想我还是跟大家一起到地狱去吧。”
其实这个故事就是一个很简单的投资误区：羊群效应。很多时候我们投资做单，都容易被别人的“准确消息”、“内幕”等等蒙蔽了双眼，盲目跟风变成了别人说去哪你就去哪的羊，就像故事中那些居住在天堂的古董收藏家们一样，仅仅是因为一句谣传就纷纷涌向地狱。所以这个故事也教训我们，做投资必须要客观、冷静的分析市场，按制定好的交易计划准确落实，不要因为人云亦云就迷失了自己做单的方向。
