美国企业8月资本财新订单反弹，说明经济基础仍较强健。而上周初请失业金人数仅小幅增加，也提升了经济前景。8月扣除飞机的非国防资本财订单(即所谓的核心资本财订单)增加0.6%，7月修正为下滑0.2%。8月耐久财订单较前月降幅达到创纪录的18.2%，主因7月订单在飞机订单激增的推动下，导致基数较高。但新订单的潜在趋势是向上的，未来几个月有可能进一步上升。
此外，美国9月20日当周初请失业金人数增加1.2万人，经季节调整后达到29.3万人。这低于分析师预估的增至30.0万人，使得四周均值减少1,250人至29.85万人。尽管8月就业成长降温，但请领失业金人数接近衰退前的水准，显示劳动市场正在走坚。
