美国7月新屋销售连续第二个月减少，但市场上的房屋库存增加和房价涨幅放缓应扶助刺激未来数月的需求。周一公布的另一项数据显示，8月服务业活动再度放缓。但这两份报告并未改变经济正在强劲增长的看法，因就业增长和制造业活动相对强劲。
美国7月新屋销售年率为41.2万户，为3月以来最低。预估为43.0万户，6月修正后为42.2万户，前值为40.6万户。美国8月服务业增长步伐连续第二个月放缓，降至5月来最低。8月美国服务业采购经理人指数(PMI)初值为58.5，低于7月的60.8，亦低于分析师预估的59.5。
