过半美国人相信全球暖化 但认为不会影响自身生活

盖洛普(Gallup)13日指出，根据一份在2014年3月6-9日期间针对1,048名美国成年人所做的电话民调，过半数(54%)受访者认为全球暖化已经发生；另有3%、8%的受访者分别认为「将在几年内展开」、「这辈子一定会发生」。自1997年开始调查以来，相信(注：包括上述三类)全球暖化效应的美国人比例介于62-75%之间。值得注意的是，18%的美国人打死就是不信有所谓的全球暖化、比例较1997年多出一倍。不过，相信「全球暖化」是一回事、认为跟自己有没有切身关系(会不会严重影响到自己的生活？)又是另外一回事。预期「全球暖化」会影响到自身生活的美国人虽从1997年的25%攀升至36%、但历次调查以来最高仅升至40%。换言之，多数美国人都不认为自己会成为全球暖化的灾民。进一步分析发现，婴儿潮世代((1946-1964年期间出生；年龄在50岁以上)绝大多数都不认为全球暖化会严重影响到自己的生活。别怪共和党籍国会议员不愿支持气候变迁相关法案。盖洛普这份民调显示，仅有19%的共和党选民预期全球暖化严重影响到自己的生活，比例远低于独立选民(32%)、民主党选民(56%)。
根据波士顿学院退休研究中心主任Alicia Munnell在2月发表的研究报告，随着老年人口逐渐凋零、每年新生儿减少，婴儿潮世代占美国16岁以上人口比例预估将由2010年的31.4%升至2020年的36.6%。
