人力资源服务公司ADP Research Institute与穆迪分析公司1月8日公布全美民间就业报告：经过季节性因素修正后，12月份民间非农业聘雇人数增加23.8万人，创去年11月（27.6万人）以来的最大增幅。根据彭博社的调查，36位经济学家的预估中间值为增加20万人，预估区间介于17万-22.5万人。11月份数据也由增加21.5万人上修为增加22.9万人。若以产业别分，在生产部门当中，12月份制造业就业人数增加19,000人，营建业增加48,000人，此创下2006年以来的最大增幅；服务业部门当中，贸易/运输/公共事业增加47,000人，金融业增加10,000人，专业人士/商业服务业增加53,000人，此创下一年以来的最大增幅。2013全年，生产部门非农就业共增加28.6万人，其中75%的增幅来自于营建业，主要受到房市加速复苏的带动；服务业部门非农就业共增加近190万人，各产业的增幅较为平均。
ADP总裁兼执行长Carlos A. Rodriguez表示，12月份民间就业人口的增幅续创当年度新高，对新年度来说确实是一个好兆头。穆迪分析公司首席经济学家Mark Zandi表示，就业市场高调结束2013年，目前平均每月就业人口增加超过20万人，显示企业对于增长前景更有信心并且愿意增加雇员。ADP民间就业报告是根据政府部门以外约34万名企业主所提供数据编制而成。经济学家一般会根据ADP的数据来对美国劳工部所发布的就业报告作预估微调。对于本周五（1月10日）即将公布的就业报告，经济学家预期12月非农就业人口将增加19.5万人。
