澳洲工业集团(AIG)与普华永道(资诚)会计师事务所(PricewaterhouseCoopers)顷对澳洲制造业发布表现指数：2013年12月之表现指数为47.6、11月为47.7，而10月与9月则分别为53.2及51.7。50为该指数之分界点，低于50表示制造业处于紧缩状态，高于50则指制造业处于扩张状态。
该数据显示澳洲制造业继上(2013)年9月及10月短暂扩张后，随即转为连续紧缩状态，且12月之紧缩指数又略大于11月。AIG首席执行长Mr. Innes Willox表示，澳洲总体经济仍处于困境，而制造业未能在能矿业投资荣景消退后，成为经济发展之引擎，且澳洲之利率与汇率刻均处于低档时间，制造业前景仍不容乐观，实颇令人遗憾。
前述数据系针对200家澳洲制造厂商进行调查后获得之结果，项目分别涵括就业、产出、新订单、物价、存货等；受访厂商表示上年9月全国大选后所营造之经济推动力已逐渐消失，新订单数量亦开始减少，肇因于商业信心及消费者信心之跌落，且霍顿(Holden)汽车公司宣布自2017年终止在澳洲之汽车制造业务更对澳洲产业带来雪上加霜之打击。另依据调查数据显示，上年12月具上扬趋势之产业部门仅有食品与饮料、木材与纸制品、印刷、大众媒体等。
