美国劳工部12月26日公布，经季节调整后，截至12月21日为止当周，首次申请失业救济金人数较前周修正值减少42,000人至338,000人。根据彭博社的调查，经济学家的预估中间值为下滑至34.5万人。上周首次申请失业救济金人数的4周移动平均值较前周修正值增加4,250人至348,000人。
彭博社报导，美国劳工部发言人表示，由于年底假期的影响，要适当作出季节调整的数据有较大难度，此令年底的数据容易波动。法国巴黎银行（BNP Paribas）美国经济学家Yelena Shulyatyeva指出，目前的数据仍显示劳动市场保持健康，就业的动能可望逐渐好转。
截至12月14日为止当周，经季节调整后，连续申请失业救济金人数较前一周的修正值增加46,000人至2,923,000人，为今年八月以来的新高。当周连续申请失业救济金人数的4周移动平均值较前一周的修正值增加39,500人至2,836,750人。截至12月14日为止当周，经过季节性因素调整后的保险失业率较前周持平为2.2%。
