伯南克暗示：白宫勿干涉央行货币政策

美联社等外电报导，美国即将于明(2014)年1月底卸任的联准会(FED)主席柏南克(Ben S. Bernanke)14日在墨西哥央行获宪法赋予独立自主权的20周年纪念会上指出，墨西哥国会20年前给予央行自主性的决定，是提振该国经济表现的关键因素；若非如此，墨西哥央行决无法挺过金融危机。他说，在危机爆发时，墨西哥央行即使在通膨压力已超出预设目标的环境下、仍毅然调降利率，与之前在危机爆发时被迫升息以抑制资金出逃的作法非常不同。
柏南克并表示，FED今(2013)年将欢度100周年，而美国央行的独立自主性也随着时间逐渐强化，优点则体现在通膨偏低、信贷上升方面。他说，FED一直都能够采取积极的货币政策稳定经济、同时又不会偏离长期的通膨目标。
柏南克在这份预先录制好的简短影片中并未讨论美国的货币政策与他对经济前景的看法。
柏南克的说法似乎在暗示白宫不应对央行货币政策干涉过多。达拉斯联邦准备银行总裁费雪(Richard Fisher)曾在9月23日痛批白宫于挑选FED接班人一事上处理不当，导致FED被政治化，角逐人选也遭抹黑诋毁。他说不该公开辩论FED继任人选，公众检视只会让FED有如政治工具，FED不能、不应也不该沦落至此。
获得总统欧巴马(Barack Obama)提名为下任FED主席的叶伦(Janet Yellen)从过去便一直敦促FED端出更多刺激政策来对抗居高不下的失业率，即使这会导致通膨率略微高于预设目标。不过，纽约时报7月27日报导，欧巴马在受访时却透露，他希望下一届FED主席能够理解稳住通膨的重要性。叶伦未来是否能维持央行独立性将值得观察。
