美国劳工部10月10日公布，经季节调整后，截至10月5日为止当周，首次申请失业救济金人数较前周大增66,000人至374,000人，创今年三月以来的新高。根据彭博社的调查，经济学家的预估中间值为增加至31.1万人，预估区间介于30.4-34万人之间。上周首次申请失业救济金人数的4周移动平均值较前周增加20,000人至325,000人。
劳工部发言人表示，上周初领失业金人数增幅有一半是因为加州的计算机系统转换完成之后恢复正常作业，而联邦政府关门则约令上周初领失业金人数增加15,000人。
截至9月28日为止当周，经季节调整后，连续申请失业救济金人数较前一周的修正值减少16,000人至2,905,000人。当周连续申请失业救济金人数的4周移动平均值较前一周的修正值增加22,500人至2,858,750人。截至9月28日为止当周，经过季节性因素调整后的保险失业率较前周修正值持平为2.2%。
