周四(8月26日)美元指数再度升上93关口，美元兑G-10货币在市场等候美联储主席鲍威尔周五讲话之际全线走高，加元因油价下跌而跌幅居前。黄金期货价格小幅收高。投资者密切关注美联储杰克逊霍尔政策研讨会，希望从中寻找有关美联储缩减购债计划的线索。油价收跌逾1%，结束了连续三天的涨势，因新冠感染病例增加引发了对需求的担忧，同时墨西哥一钻井平台因发生火灾中断供应后恢复了部分生产。
达拉斯联储主席卡普兰：维持自己对美国经济前景的预期不变
美联储主席卡普兰表示：“我仍然倾向于FOMC在9月份货币政策会议上宣布开始减码QE的决定。主张美联储不要同时实施减码QE和加息，倾向于美联储迅速启动减码QE进程，并循序渐进地推进。倾向于美联储减码QE的行动持续八个月左右。我所联系到的企业表示，他们正在抵御新冠肺炎德尔塔变异毒株的影响。随着新冠疫苗接种率的提高，看见更多的经济韧性。美联储债券购买行动支持需求，但需求端本来就不是一个问题。债券购买的意外影响/副作用让我感到忧心忡忡。”
圣路易斯联储主席布拉德：通货膨胀比预期的要高
圣路易斯练出主席布拉德表示，2022年通胀至少达到2.5%。美联储应该“开始”缩减购债规模，到2022年第一季度结束。经济已经学会适应疫情。在2022年第一季度末完成缩债将给美联储带来选择。经济正在蓬勃发展，不需要更多的刺激。不想要太高的通货膨胀，这会伤害美国穷人。金融稳定是缩减购债规模的好理由。房价上涨是一个问题，不要自满。不认为美国房地产市场今天陷入困境。支持美联储缩减购债规模后缩减资产负债表。

欧洲央行公布的会议纪要称，如能成功使通胀预期达到目标水平，重新设计的前瞻指引并不一定意味着“更低利率实施更久”。首席经济学家Lane提议的新前瞻指引构成“被广泛认为是非常平衡的”。新策略和利率指引被视为降低了可能产生副作用的风险，因为它应该有助于缩短实施极低利率的时间，并在其它所有条件相同的情况下降低所需资产购买量。与会者普遍同意将对资产购买计划(APP)前瞻性指引的讨论推迟到未来会议进行。
