3月24日，现货黄金出现小幅度上涨，虽然美国国债收益率以及美元指数都有上涨趋势，但是美联储主席鲍威尔再次表示当前将利率维持在近零水平，这一讲话后，黄金的避险价值受到支撑，价格出现上涨。
结束了连续两天的跌势，一方是因为有迹象表明美国国债收益率的上升可能正在减弱，另外令人失望的美国经济报告提振了黄金作为避险资产的吸引力。美国官方数据显示，耐用品订单出现接近一年以来首次下滑。
美国5年期国债拍卖显示需求有所增加，此外基准美国国债收益率变动不大，且自周一开盘以来下降约10个基点。BMO Capital Markets金属衍生品交易主管Tai Wong指出，5年期国债拍卖结果不错使得债券得到良好支撑，收益率维持在近期低位，这对黄金有所帮助。另外，耐用品订单数据也提振了黄金的吸引力。
分析师表示，美联储表示，尽管我们可能会看到通胀攀升，但他们不会进行干预，这最终意味着我们可能会看到通胀急升，而美联储仍将观望……这些因素正在帮助金价上涨。
鲍威尔周二对议员们表示，我们确实预计通胀将在今年上升，但“既不会幅度特别大，也不会持久”。
直到今年晚些时候，金价都不太可能突破每盎司1700-1750美元的区间，届时增长和通胀可能停滞，投资者可能会青睐追随通胀上升的资产和大宗商品。
