1月6日，现货黄金出现巨大跌幅，刷新本周新地点，由于美元反弹，美债收益率盘攀升，降低了黄金作为避险工具的吸引力，同时特朗普支持者和警方在国会山发生冲突，市场避险需求提升，限制了黄金的下行空间。
周三美国国债收益率攀升，10年期美债收益率突破1%，最高接近1.06%；分析师称，长期国债收益率的上涨对金价不利，如果10年期国债收益率继续攀升，未来金价将继续承压。
据外媒报道，当地时间1月6日下午，特朗普支持者和警察之间发生暴力冲突，迫使美国国会大厦紧急封锁，国会议员们受困在国会山。据美联社，宣布国会大厦封锁的时候，国会议员们正在开会并准备投票确认拜登胜选。由于“外部的安全威胁”，任何人不能进入或离开国会山，录音如此说。国会两院被迫突然休会。
这起冲突事件在特朗普向数千名支持者发布讲话不久之后发生，周三，在国会进行投票之前，特朗普在集会中用毫无根据的选举欺诈言论煽动起了人群。
“我们不会让他们熄灭你们的声音”特朗普向示威者宣称，示威者在天亮之前已经开始排队以便占到一个好位置聆听总统演讲。
华盛顿市长鲍泽（Bowser）下令从当天晚上6时开始实施宵禁，直到周四（7日）早上6时。宵禁要求，除了市长同意及必要工作者外，任何人不得外出。
受此消息影响，美股大幅回落，现货黄金一度反弹至1924.34美元/盎司，现货白银回升至27.30美元，跌幅缩窄到不足1%，稍早一度跌逾3%。
