拉加德稱，風險傾向於下行，第二波疫情深度和持續時間強於預期。最新數據顯示，疫情的短期影響更明顯，不確定性非常高，第二波疫情導致第四季度GDP顯著收縮。歐盟復蘇基金需要立即運行，不要有延遲。
拉加德稱，長期通脹指標處於低位，服務業活動受到嚴重限制。總體通脹將在2021年初之前保持為負值，在那之後將會上升。但一旦疫情的影響消退，中期而言，需求將給通貨膨脹帶來上行壓力。
歐洲央行日內的政策舉動不太可能讓人感到意外，因為歐洲央行數周來已明確表示，更多寬鬆政策即將出臺，購買債券和為銀行提供流動性安排將構成任何政策回應的支柱。
歐元匯率飛漲，讓歐洲央行做起工作來更加麻煩，因為歐元升值會進一步損害經濟並壓制通脹。美元似乎已經進入長期下跌趨勢，歐元兌美元目前處於1.21關口附近，接近上周創下的2018年4月下旬以來高位1.2177。
詹森和馮德萊恩同意雙方的談判團隊在未來幾天內進行進一步討論。馮德萊恩在另一份聲明中呼應了英國對此次會談的評論。雙方同意在週末結束前，就英國1月1日最終脫離歐盟軌道前是否可能達成協議做出決定。
英國今年1月正式脫離歐盟，但之後進入過渡期，期間英國依然留在歐盟單一市場和關稅同盟，這意味有關貿易、旅行和商務的規定仍保持不變。
英歐雙方承認，存在達不成貿易協議的危險。外界越來越擔心五年的脫歐危機以混亂的無協議結尾收場。在新冠疫情已導致全球經濟受到衝擊的情況下，雙方若無法達成協議，邊境通關將出現擁堵、衝擊金融市場、並導致供應鏈混亂。
