由于担心刺激谈判可能会拖延，黄金盘中高达0.7％的涨幅有所收窄。新冠疫苗的前景也在抑制对黄金的需求，美国监管机构表示，辉瑞及其德国合作伙伴BioNTech SE联合研发的新冠疫苗非常有效。
据一位知情人士透露，参议院多数党领袖麦康奈尔将与姆努钦和众议院少数党领袖麦卡锡举行会谈。麦康奈尔尚未同意基于9,080亿美元的两党提案来磋商纾困方案。众议院议长佩洛西周二称仍对达成协议持乐观态度，但强调这会是通往明年拜登上任后推出另一份更大方案的桥梁。佩洛西说道，“别搞错了，这只是紧急补充方案，这不是刺激方案，规模太小了。”
新一轮纾困措施能否出台仍无定论。麦康奈尔坚持限制对企业的新冠相关诉讼，已成为当前谈判面临的主要障碍，同时民主党人想要的州和地方政府援助方案也是分歧所在。美国两党参议员均认为，能否达成妥协取决于麦康奈尔的决定。几名共和党议员已经对该计划表示支持或持开放态度，白宫高级经济顾问库德洛也曾表示总统特朗普可能会签署。
