10月21日，现货黄金出现巨大上涨，由于投资者认为美国将在美国总统大选前宣布新的财政刺激计划，且达成的可能性较高，在乐观情绪推动下，现货黄金走出较大行情，同时增强黄金作为通胀对冲的作用。
COMEX 12月黄金期货收涨0.7%，报1929.50美元/盎司。分析师表示，美国众议院议长佩洛希原本的最后期限是周二，现在已经推迟到周五了。知道这一点，人们认为协议可能在不久的将来达成，所以他们开始囤
黄金。
美国众议院议长佩洛西称，有可能与美国财长努钦就应对新冠疫情冲击的刺激方案达成协议，但可能无法赶在11月3日前让国会两院通过。美国白宫幕僚长梅多斯表示，政府目标是在48小时内达成协议。佩洛西随后称对谈判情况“非常满意”，即便还有一些分歧，例如对州和地方政府的拨款规模等。努钦与佩洛西定于周三下午再次对话。然而，如果达成协议，仍然会在参议院面临阻碍，美国参议院多数党领袖麦康奈尔已警告白宫，不要同意任何类似于佩洛西所支持的全面方案。
对最终将达成协议的押注增加，推动美元连续第三日下滑，美元指数盘中创9月2日以来新低至92.46，这支撑了金价。分析师称，美元的下跌是金价走高的主因，黄金市场近期的盘整状态接近结束，或将回到上行趋势中。
在黄金市场下行支撑良好，利多因素又都还在的情况下，预计今年年末之前还能回到2000美元/盎司关口，明年金价能涨至2300美元/盎司。
