美国周三公布的一份行业报告显示，3月MARKIT制造业采购经理人指数(PMI)终值为48.5，为2009年以来8月最低，初值为49.2，2月终值为50.7。周三公布的其他数据显示，上月民间部门就业岗位出现两年半来首次下降，导致经济前景进一步黯淡，因企业被迫关闭以遵守遏制病毒传播的严格措施。
随着越来越多的证据表明，这场流行病正在将全球经济推入深度衰退，欧美股市在今年第二季开局就大幅下跌。美联储扩大了数十家外国央行在新冠病毒危机期间获取美元的能力，允许它们将所持美债换成隔夜美元贷款。
当前史无前例的宏观经济大背景一直在吸引更多投资者转向黄金等实货资产。全球各国央行都在扩张资产负债表，并准备进一步放宽政策，以减轻疫情影响；因此，我们认为实际利率将在一段时间内保持在深度负值区域，这样的背景仍有利于黄金投资。
供应管理学会制造业指数萎缩幅度小于预期，导致避险需求下降，令金价回落。分析师说，美国ADP和ISM济数据强于市场预期，引发了黄金交易者的一些获利回吐，但是，毫无疑问，美国经济正在走向衰退，购买黄金仍然是一个不错的选择。
