原油需求受到經濟衰退打壓
3月25日，美國的商業原油庫存增幅沒有達到市場預期，同時精煉油庫存和汽油庫存都有明顯下滑，在資料公佈後，美國原油價格小幅度上漲，但由於全球經濟衰退的擔憂持續增加，油價仍面臨較大壓力。
此外，美國截至3月20日當周EIA汽油庫存實際公佈減少153.70萬桶，預期減少203萬桶，前值減少618萬桶；美國截至3月20日當周EIA精煉油庫存實際公佈減少67.80萬桶，預期減少159.9萬桶，前值減少294萬桶。
北京時間3月25日，據兩名知情人士透露，特朗普政府已就規模近2萬億美元的開支和減稅一攬子計畫與參議院民主黨人和共和黨人達成了一致。該計畫旨在提振步履蹣跚的美國經濟，並為舉國範圍的抗擊疫情努力提供資金支援。
雖然具體細節尚未公佈，但是即將推出的這項一攬子計畫將包含為企業與美國州市提供數十億美元資金、向廣大美國公眾派發現金、為小型企業提供貸款和救助以維持就業、加大失業保險力度、推遲繳稅等相當廣泛的內容。
國際貨幣基金組織預計，今年全球衰退將至少與十多年前金融危機期間一樣嚴重，然後在2021年復蘇。
國際貨幣基金組織主席格奧爾基耶娃週一在二十國集團財長和央行行長舉行電話會議後發表聲明表示，已有近80個國家向這個總部設在華盛頓的機構請求緊急資金援助。
全球疫情持續蔓延，更是給歐洲和北美兩大汽車產業中心地區蒙上陰影，而汽車行業對原油的需求巨大，如果汽車行業受到嚴重影響，那麼原油需求也將會遭到沉重打擊。
法國政府表示將採取包括國有化在內的一切措施，以挽救受到疫情嚴重打擊的本國汽車巨頭。日前，法國財政部長表示，法國政府已經制定了可能需要國家支援的公司清單，從注資到徹底國有化。
另據報導，美國方面專員認為，德克薩斯州應該考慮限制石油公司的產量，以穩定暴跌中的油價。石油高管和監管機構正與特朗普政府接觸，他們提出德克薩斯州的石油產量可以削減10%，前提是美國政府說服沙特和俄羅斯採取一樣的行動。
