在至关重要的12月12日大选之前，最新的民调显示，保守党和工党之间的差距正在缩小。这和此前保守党遥遥领先的结果不同，如果两党差距缩小，那么英国大选可能会出现悬浮议会，这大大增加了接下来脱欧的不确定性，增加了市场的避险情绪。
工党在上周的竞选宣言中承诺增加支出和税收，将各种产业国有化，并向领取养老金的人发放现金补贴，这些承诺得到了支持，现在也反映在了民意调查中。
这表明，市场高度适应民意调查中出现的任何情况，这也证实了未来几天的风险平衡仍然偏向下行，因为有证据表明，由于工党在民意调查中的稳步改善，工党和保守党之间的差距将继续缩小。
