11月14日，国际金价持续高位收盘，由于经济数据向好，市场风险偏好受到一定的压制，但全球经济黄金以及中美能否达成贸易协议，也让市场对避险资产有一定的关注。美联储则是拒绝了特朗普要求实施负利率的请求。
上个月，全球两最大经济体表达了签署“第一阶段”协议，旨在结束贸易冲突的意向，全球金融市场乐观情绪一度大幅上升。
商务部发言人高峰回应称，中方多次强调，贸易冲突由加征关税而起，也应由取消加征关税而止，这是双方达成协议的重要条件。
美联储主席鲍威尔周三反驳了特朗普总统最喜欢谈论的话题，他告诉国会，特朗普所寻求的负利率并不适合美国经济，目前美国经济持续增长、劳动力市场强劲且通胀稳定。
鲍威尔表示：“在当前环境下，负利率肯定是不合适的。我们的经济表现强劲。我们仍在增长，我们的消费者支出强劲，我们有通胀。在一些较大经济体中，负利率通常出现在经济增长十分缓慢，通胀很低的时期。但美国目前的情况并非如此。”
特朗普周二在纽约经济俱乐部演说表示：“请记住，我们正积极地与那些公开降息的国家竞争，现在许多国家在偿还贷款时实际上还得到了回报，这就是所谓的负利率。谁听说过这样的事？给我一些这样的政策，给我一些这样的资金，我需要一些这样的资金。我们的美联储不让我们这么做。”
鲍威尔表示：“我们认为，目前的货币政策立场未来可能仍然合适，因为我们预计经济将温和增长，劳动力市场将保持强劲，通胀率将接近我们2%的对称目标，基本情境预测依然乐观……我和我的同事们预计，经济活动持续扩张…是最有可能发生的情况。”
到目前为止，投资者预期美联储可能会维持利率不变直到明年年底，这可能会使美联储避免在美国大选期间不得不降息或加息，美元的相对强势预期，也意味着金价重新上行面临不小困难。
分析师表示：“有限的通胀压力将允许美联储宁可过于宽松也不要冒险犯错。联邦公开市场委员会(FOMC)未来几个月可能继续保持观望，不过如果动能跟我们预期一样开始消退，美联储可能会采取行动以维持经济扩张的态势。”
