11月5日，現貨黃金持續下跌，由於中美即將達成貿易協議，帶來的樂觀情緒上升，同時美聯儲表達了暫緩降息的傾向。美國企業對信貸條件寬鬆預期持謹慎離場，美元指數創下進四個交易日的高點。
中國外交部回應稱，加征關稅不是解決經貿問題的正確途徑，貿易衝突升級也不符合任何一方的利益。當前中美經貿磋商已經取得進展，而且正在向前推進。希望雙方能夠相向而行，在相互尊重、平等互利的基礎上找到妥善解決問題的辦法。

美聯儲週一發佈的最新調查顯示，出於對經濟前景更加不確定的擔憂，銀行正在緊縮第三季度的信用卡貸款標準。不利的經濟環境和更加不確定的經濟狀況是降低發放新貸款意願的原因之一。
在過去的三個季度中，銀行提高了批准信用卡申請的承保標準。穆迪投資者服務公司的一份報告顯示，信用卡標準收緊創下2009年以來最高。
美國金融機構在放鬆貸款條件方面總體持謹慎態度，否則將會令個人和企業質疑，其投資能否獲得合理可觀的回報。較低的借貸成本通常不會在經濟前景不佳的情況下觸發市場對增加支出予以積極回應。
