美國勞工部資料顯示，7月非農就業人數增加16.4萬，基本符合市場預期，失業率維持在3.7%，薪資年率上漲至3.2%，美國就業人數從去年的強勁水準回落，這是相對的變化。
7月非農資料公佈後，聯邦基金利率期貨暗示市場預計美聯儲9月降息概率96.5%，加息概率3.5%； 具體來看，市場預計美聯儲在9月會議上降息25基點概率為96.5%，直接降息50基點概率為0；如果9月如期降息25基點，在10月會議上再次降息的概率為59.8%，如果10月沒降息，在12月會議上再度降息的概率則為77.9%。
7月新增非農就業人口和預期一致，但是6月新增就業人口從22.4萬下修至19.3萬，5月數據則從7.2萬下修至6.2萬。復興宏觀研究美國經濟主管稱，每週工作時間的減少令人失望。以年率計算，過去三個月的總工作時間僅增長了0.4%。
分析師稱，就業資料突顯出勞動力市場的彈性，但最近貿易緊張局勢的升級，使得趨勢性結果黯然失色。不過，更重要薪資資料仍然相對強勁，支援持續的經濟擴張。
分析師稱，此次非農資料給了美聯儲一些喘息的空間。在週三美聯儲主席鮑威爾的發佈會上，貿易是其談論的最重要的話題，就業、薪資和保持經濟增長排在第二位。
