美国NYMEX 3月原油期货价格周二(2月9日)收盘下跌1.75美元，跌幅5.89%，报27.94美元/桶，油价连续第四个交易日下跌，接近上个月触及的12年半低位，此前美国政府和西方世界能源监管机构下调了需求预估，股市下跌也打压了油价。
与此同时，ICE布伦特4月原油期货价格收盘下跌2.56美元，跌幅7.79%，报30.32美元/桶。
ICAP经纪商和商品专家Scott Shelton称，多头出空，空头进场，今日可能有许多生产商的对冲卖盘，无论多低的价格都卖。能源资料协会(EIA)和国际能源署(IEA)的数据，令人很难仍看好油市。
油价全日受压，但当美国政府的能源资料协会(EIA)下调今明两年石油需求增长预估后，触及盘中低点。
投资者通常不会密切关注季度报告，但报告引发了新的卖盘反映出整个油市的紧张情绪加深。
EIA报告发布几小时前，总部位于巴黎的国际能源署(IEA)警告称，2016年大部份时间全球原油供应过剩的情况将持续，因美国减产需要时间，且石油输出国组织(OPEC)和其他产油国达成减产协议以降低不断膨胀的供应的机会渺茫。
能源数据供应商ClipperData商品研究主任Matt Smith称，IEA的报告带来利空的打击，紧接着是EIA报告，两个报告的基调是一致的。
股市下跌也给油市带来压力，标普500指数全日大部分时间下跌，仅在纽约市场油市收盘前反弹。
在油市周二收市后，美国石油协会(API)公布，截至2月5日当周，美国原油库存增加236万桶，至5.034亿桶。库欣地区原油库存增加71.5万桶。
