英国国家统计局公布的英国12月通胀数据好于预期，创1年来最好水平。在美元强势和退欧风险面前，英镑兑美元反应平淡，几无涨跌。
英国国家统计局表示，英国通胀上涨的原因主要是机票和汽车能源价格上涨。但是，英国12月PPI输出价格较上年同期的降幅为2014年12月以来最小。
另外统计数据显示，英国2015年CPI为持平，创1950年有可比记录以来的最低；2014年CPI增长1.5%。相比而言，本次通胀虽然有所回升，但依然处于低位。
稍后晚间20：00，英国央行行长卡尼发表今年首次重要讲话，市场预期他将对英国经济持谨慎态度。上次的英国央行会议上，英国货币决策人关注市场波动和油价大跌。
市场分析人士人英国央行可能觉得英镑跌得还不够，他们恐怕还需要看到英镑进一步贬值，对通胀产生明显影响后，决策官员才会升息。
对于英镑走势，德国商业银行(Comme rzbank)驻伦敦经济学家Peter Dixon指出，“英国央行已经坦言，最近英镑贬值将为通胀路径提供部分支撑，但是我们认为最近英镑可能会至少收复一些下跌的失土。”
丹斯克银行(Danske Bank)则认为，英镑/美元周初表现温和，汇价仍处于弱势行情之中，需关注1.4228强势支撑。英镑在日图上已经超卖，或许会出现空头获利了结的情况。
