石油输出国组织(OPEC)周一(10月12日)在月度报告中表示，受到2016年原油的需求将走强预期的推动，该组织9月份原油产量报每天3157.1万桶，创2012年以来最高。
OPEC在月报中指出，“虽然去年非OPEC国家供应的增幅是全球原油需求增长的两倍多，但预期这一关系今年将反转，并在2016年进一步放大。”
月报称，“这应当会减少市场供应过剩并且导致对OPEC原油的需求升高，带来更为均衡的油市基本面。”
OPEC提高2016年该组织原油需求预估51万桶/日至3082万桶/日，同时调降2016年全球原油日需求增长预估4万桶至125万桶，2015年预估提高4万桶。
同时，OPEC引述其他消息来源称，9月OPEC原油日产出增长11万桶至3157万桶/日，创自2012年来的新高。
当前，OPEC预预计2016年非OPEC原油日供应萎缩13万桶，这主要是受到低油价导致美国及其它地区供应下降的影响。
日内，科威特石油部长Ali al-Omair讲话称，目前石油输出国组织(OPEC)内部并没有任何要求改变产量上限的呼声，他并表示，高成本产油方退出市场，可以帮助提振2016年油价。
之前，高盛日内发布报告警告称，如果当前的供应过剩发展到超过物流与存储能力的程度，原油价格可能跌到生产成本水平。
高盛表示，“基本面仍然疲弱，我们认为油市严重供应过剩。三个月、六个月和12个月西德克萨斯中质油(WTI)价格预估分别为每桶42、40和45美元。”
