随着亚洲需求走弱，欧元区企业活动增长在9月趋缓，导致新增就业岗位减少，并迫使工厂削减产出，即便是公司进行了逾四年来的首次价格上调。而当下，有关欧洲央行(ECB)量化宽松政策是否应扩大以对通胀和经济增速施加更大的影响，正存在着争论。
数据编撰机构Markit今天公布的一份调查显示，欧元区9月综合采购经理人指数(PMI)报53.9，低于8月的54.3。
Markit在今天的报告中称，该指数自2013年中以来就一直处在50荣枯分水岭之上。
报告还指出，制造业PMI降至52.0，符合预期但从前月的52.3下降，因出口订单增长放缓。衡量制造业产出的分项指数跌至四个月低点。欧元区服务业PMI从前月的54.4降至54.0，分析师此前预计为54.2。
值得注意的是，欧元区服务业企业四年多来首次可以提高价格，暗示欧元区低通胀压力可能在消退。
德国9月企业活动增速略慢于8月，这暗示第三季德国国内生产总值(GDP)将增长0.4%。
报告称，涵盖制造业和服务业的Markit德国9月综合采购经理人指数(PMI)初值微降至54.3，8月为55.0。制造业和服务业占德国经济的逾三分之二。不过，综合PMI仍然连续第29个月稳稳居于荣枯分界线50上方。
法国9月民间部门经济活动由夏季的迟滞中反弹，制造业产出在连续两个月下滑后恢复增长。
法国9月Markit制造业采购经理人指数(PMI)初值上升至50.4；8月为48.3。9月服务业活动升速也快于预期，服务业PMI从8月的50.6升至51.2。这推动综合PMI从8月的50.2升至51.4。
