美联储(Fed)主席耶伦(Jannet Yellen)周四(7月16日)在参议院金融委员会作证时重申，就业市场好转以及经济愈发强劲使得美联储有可能今年晚些时候升息，不过仍面临一些阻力。她的讲话内容与周三在众议院金融委员会作证时相同。
耶伦表示，太快收紧政策存在风险，但美联储也不想太晚收紧政策，希望能以审慎渐进的方式收紧政策。她重申失业率可能低估了就业市场的闲置程度，美国经济面临的逆风正在消退，低通胀是对加息保持耐心的原因。
不过耶伦预期看到薪资有更多抬头，美联储不会让通胀永远在2%之下徘徊。尽管与会者认为通胀到今年底依然会低于2%目标，但今年加息依然合适，加息时间的决定仍将取决于数据。
《华尔街日报》随后评论称，耶伦证词对通胀预期颇为乐观，表示将逐步回升联储2%的目标，但债市反映出投资者对此并不如此不确定。美国五年损益平衡通胀率当前位于1.577%的两个月低位，意味着投资者认为通胀年率未来五年均值为1.577%，小于六月末的1.667%及四月份1.863%的峰值。即使美联储按计划在九月份就加息，被压低的通胀预期也将对幅度构成限制，令联储“谨慎慢行”。
