澳洲统计局公布的数据显示，澳大利亚一季度GDP季率上升0.9%，优于预期的上升0.7%，同样高于前值的上升0.5%。数据同时显示，澳大利亚一季度GDP年率上升2.3%，优于预期的上升2.1%，虽较前值的上升2.5%有所下降。由于澳洲GDP强劲，澳元刷新一周高位0.7817。
总体来看，澳洲GDP数据是表现强劲的。加之，澳联储本周未对澳元的强势表现表达更深程度的不满(虽然仍像之前那样认为澳元未来要贬值)。市场普遍预期澳联储在未来一段时间内进一步降息的概率较低。澳元/美元也因此快速飙高至逾一周高位0.7817。事实上，澳元/美元的走高不仅是因为澳洲本土数据的向好。美联储升息时点遇到的新问题，也令美元的重挫在此轮澳元/美元升势中起到了重要作用。美联储董事会成员布雷纳德隔夜承认，全球市场疲软可能限制美联储的行动，在世界其他国家的经济好转之前，美联储(FED)或不可能加息。
